What's the commitment with the monthly coaching packages?
All our packages are either a one-time fixed cost, or a monthly subscription.
Fixed-cost packages, like our Custom Race Plan, are non-refundable.
Monthly subscriptions, like our Essentials and Pro Run Plans, are month-to-month to give you maximum flexibility. You may cancel at any time if you decide you no longer need the support. We just ask that you give us at least 30 days notice.
To cancel, just let the expert you’re working with know directly or contact our team with your cancellation request.
Any completed payments are non-refundable.

What if I'm not sure who I want to work with or what I need. Will you help me decide?
Of course! Fill out the intake application with as much detail about you and your needs as you can, and we’ll help match you with a great fit.

Can I just contact and work with a Freetrail Expert directly?
All our experts own and operate their own coaching businesses in addition to the packages they offer through Freetrail Experts, and we are proud to support and refer athletes to them. If you’d prefer to work with them directly, we certainly don’t have any right or desire to stop you. We applaud whatever decision makes the most sense for you.
However, in order to get our exclusive Freetrail Expert packages, you’ll need to go through our signup process. All monthly packages include a Freetrail Pro Membership, where you get a ton of additional support and trail running community. Seriously โ you won’t want to miss out!

How will I track and collaborate on training with my expert?
All run coaching packages include access to Final Surge, a coaching collaboration platform that will allow us to deliver your plan, track your training, give feedback, and make changes as needed. We’ll set all this up for you after you sign up โ nothing for you to do yet!
Each of our strength, nutrition, and mindset experts has their own custom ways of working with their athletes. They’ll discuss this further with you during your consultation call and onboarding.

What if I'm interested in multiple different packages, like running & strength? Do you offer combo discounts?
At this time, each of our packages are standalone to keep things simple. For example, if you’d like to do run coaching with Keely and strength coaching with Matt, you’ll just sign up for each of those packages separately.
However, we would love to hear that feedback and if the demand is there, we’ll consider creating combo packages to suit those needs in the future.

Do I need any special equipment?
If you’re brand new to trail running, our run experts will help set you up with the basic equipment. Luckily, running is pretty simple โ a good pair of trail shoes, running clothes, and a simple watch are all you really need to get started.
Of course, there are plenty of nice-to-haves that can make your experience easier and more fun, and may become need-to-haves in the future depending on your goals (hydration vest, fancy GPS watch, poles, technical gear for different weather conditions, etc.). But if you’re on a budget or overwhelmed by options, you can build out your gear slowly over time as you learn. Don’t let the lack of a perfect gear closet stop you from getting started with trail running!
Our Freetrail Pro community, included in all monthly memberships, is another great resource for crowd-sourcing questions about gear! We’ve got a ton of experienced members that are happy to give advice and help you out.

How much time will I need to train?
There’s no doubt that trail running, especially training for ultra-distance races, can require a significant time and energy commitment. We don’t want you showing up to a big race significantly undertrained, so we won’t sugarcoat the minimum time commitment needed to be successful.
Obviously, we’d all love infinite time to dedicate to our running goals, but we understand that many of you have plenty of other life obligations and roles to play โ careers, parenthood, social lives, etc. One of the benefits of working with a dedicated coach is the ability to truly customize the plan to your life and goals in a way that’s not possible with a cookie-cutter plan. Even if you have a hectic schedule and full life, your coach can help you make the most of the time you’ve got, and come up with a plan that works for you.

What if I need changes to my plan?
All packages outline the frequency of communication with your coach and opportunities for schedule adjustment.
For example, our Essentials Run Plan includes weekly coach review in Final Surge, where they’ll review any notes you’ve made and make adjustments to your plan accordingly. Our Pro Run Plan offers bi-weekly coach review, and is a better option if you need more frequent review, feedback, and schedule adjustments.
If you start on the Essentials Run Plan and find you need more frequent adjustments, you can easily upgrade to the Pro Run Plan at any time (and vice versa).
