Adam Peterman: Training for Canyons 100k

Share the trail love:

In the mountains and rivers of Missoula, Montana, Adam Peterman prepares to return to the trails that launched him into trail stardom. The young Hoka athlete shot into the upper echelon of trail running in 2022 after clinching victories at the Western States 100 mile and the Long Trail World Championship putting all of us on notice. But just when we thought Peterman’s prowess was peaking, fate threw him a curveball – a stress fracture in his sacrum would take him out for the entire 2023 season.

Fast forward to the spring of 2024, and Peterman’s training has returned to normal. This weekend, he’s gearing up for the ultimate showdown: the Canyons 100km, with his eyes set on snagging that Golden Ticket back to Western States. And guess what? We’ve got a front-row seat to the action.

Ryan Thrower and Dylan Bowman joined Adam Peterman on his home trails for a litmus test workout used to rebuild his confidence in his body and fitness. The session? A time trial up the local hill, Mt. Sentinel, followed by five by one mile flat repeats at threshold to get the legs turning over.

Watch our #TrainingFor series to understand how Adam’s journey isn’t just about running – it’s about resilience, redemption, and a whole lot of heart. So grab your popcorn, lace up your imaginary running shoes, and tune in as we follow Adam Peterman’s quest to join the big dance in June. This weekend, it will not just be about the miles – it will be about the triumph of the human spirit, one stride at a time.
