The show goes on. Still reeling from our coverage of UTMB, the Freetrail team is back on European soil, this time to bring our Trailgating treatment to the World Mountain & Trail Running Championships for the first time.
Hosted in Canfranc, Spain, 2025 marks the third edition where short-distance and long-distance world titles are contested at the same event rather than separated in timing and venue. Ever since the combination first occurred at the 2022 World Championship hosted in Thailand, the event has captured much more mindshare for global trail fans. The world’s best athletes, from all of trail running’s many disciplines, battling over four distances in as many days, with individual glory and national pride on the line. What could be better?
We’re excited to be here in person, sharing the daily drama as it unfolds in a new way. Before we get to our ambitious plans for Worlds, let’s start with our daily show schedule:

Of course, in addition to our daily shows, we’ll also be doing pre-race interviews with many of the favorites across race distances and post-race interviews with the top performers. Freetrail is incredibly excited to be welcome Adam Merry to the coverage team – a long time pro athlete and member of Team USA’s gold medal Long Trail squad from 2022. The Boulder Boys Podcast co-host will be my on-air partner all week. Vibes guaranteed to be immaculate.
As usual, all content will live on Freetrail’s YouTube channel and in the podcast feed. Make sure you’re also following us on Instagram and Threads where we’ll be sharing timely updates all week.
New for Worlds, in addition to our Trailgating shows, Freetrail will also be releasing daily vlogs on YouTube, sharing highlights from each race as they unfold. We expect these to be relatively short but high-energy and entertaining – giving fans a fly-on-the-wall perspective of trail racing at the highest level while adding a new dimension to our coverage. Pray for Ryan who will deserve a long vacation afterwards.
