Joe Grant is an ultrarunner and outdoor enthusiast from Durango, CO. His approach to mountain sport is as artistic as it is athletic. He’s known not only for being a great runner, but also as a creative storyteller and philosophical adventurer. Joe and I go way back and I have a tremendous amount of admiration for him. He was a personal inspiration of mine upon my introduction to ultrarunning and he’s been a good friend since.
In this convo, we talk about Joe’s move to Durango from Boulder, reminisce about the revolution in ultrarunning in the early 2010s, how the sport has changed in the last decade, his recent Home to Home project, his artistic approach and process of creating the adventures he’s tackled in his career, and much more.
